“It was back in February 2008 that the XPERIA lineup was born and it took Sony Ericsson almost two years to bring about the XPERIA X1 successor. The long waiting is over now and the XPERIA X2 is keen to prove to us all it was worth it.Both devices obviously have lots of features in common (it’s the same amount of memory - both RAM and ROM, and the same CPU) but there are - possibly - enough improvements to make the XPERIA X2 a strong successor and a valuable upgrade. And by telling you that, we don’t only mean the more recent version of WinMo. 6.5 was never officially compatible with the original. Nokia Q4 2009 results, smartphone world market share up 5%

“Nokia has released their Q4 2009 results,reporting an operating loss of EUR 426 million, with net sales EUR 12 billion (down 5% YoY). Nokia’s device and service division’s profits were EUR 1.14 billion, up 130% year on year. Margins in devices and services were 14.9% (up 5.5% YoY and 3.5% QoQ). Converged devices sales (smartphone) were 20.8 million, compared with 15.1 million units in Q3 2008 and 16.4 million units in Q3 2009. As such, worldwide converged device (’smartphone’) marketshare increased from 35% to 40% sequentially. The results are significantly ahead of market expectations, with Nokia’s share price up 10% since yesterday.” Read more here:
Ovi Maps (free navigation) hits the Nokia N97

“Despite expectations that Ovi Maps 3.3 with free navigation would hit the Nokia N97 in a firmware update, it has popped up on Software Update (in the Applications folder) anyway as a 8MB download. Obviously, it’s not recommended if you’re starting off with less than about 30MB of free space on disk C: - in which case, you’re better off waiting for it in a firmware release.Do please comment if you spot this for another Nokia phone that wasn’t previously covered!I can’t emphasise enough how much disk space this will occupy. With the other updates for the N97 firmware (e.g. in the above list) this will cause huge problems for some people. Only install the updates that are essential. Right about now, I reckon, Nokia are firing the guy who original specified the memory side of the Nokia N97 (classic) - if he wasn’t fired some time ago…. 8-)” via allaboutsymbian.com
